Pre-Installation CheckList
Pre-Installation Checklist Hikvision NVR/Cameras
We recommend that you “desk” check your NVR and camera setup before final installation.
Doing this will ensure that your NVR and cameras power up and basic connectivity is tested and verified.
All Hikvision devices require activation before they can be used. This activation involves setting a secure password for the default admin user.
To enable the admin password do the following:
- Plug in power
- Plug in USB mouse to a free USB port.
- Plug Monitor/TV screen into HDMI/VGA port.
- Power on the NVR
- The NVR on screen menu will display after a short period.
- Please set a secure admin password from the NVR.
- The NVR setup wizard will now step you through additional setup tasks.
- Please refer to the NVR User manual (v3.4.X / v4.X) for further assistance.
CAMERA
IP camera activation happens automatically when first plugged into an NVR PoE port. The NVR’s admin password is set on each camera as it is detected by the NVR.
- Plug network cable into IP camera Ethernet port and the other end into a PoE port on the NVR
- On the NVR menu select Cameras.
- You should see the camera appear as active.
- Repeat steps 1 to 3 until all your cameras have been activated by the NVR.
You should be good to do the final installation.
